Matthew Smith

I’m Matthew Smith, a commercial, editorial, and lifestyle photographer and filmmaker based in Tampa, Florida and Los Angeles, California. Originally from Iowa, my career has taken me across the world, with projects as far as Vietnam, Hawaii, Germany, and the Galápagos Islands.

My work is rooted in capturing the energy, beauty, and emotion that make people and brands come alive. I’m drawn to natural light, candid moments, and honest color, creating imagery that feels both elevated and real.

Whether I’m photographing a national campaign, a small business, or a personal portrait, my approach is collaborative and grounded in connection. I aim to create an environment where people feel comfortable, confident, and authentic because that’s when the best images happen.

Outside of photography and filmmaking, I’m passionate about design, good food, and storytelling in all its forms. When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll likely find me exploring coffee shops with my wife and daughter, experimenting with new recipes, or chasing after our dog Theo.
