Ghostbusters // Editorial // Pasadena, CA

Primer Magazine asked me to do a Ghostbusters themed shoot shoot for Halloween. We were lucky enough to get an Ecto 1 that is about 95% screen quality for the shoot. The Proton Backpack, below, was actually worn by Bill Murray for an awards ceremony. It was so fun to see something you grew up with, as a kid, come to life!

Summer Life In Bentonville // Editorial // Arkansas Life Magazine

Arkansas Life magazine asked me to spend a few days in Bentonville, Arkansas and capture all that ensues. I started with First Friday, where the square is transformed into a giant block party for the entire community. Great food, live music, children’s activities, gallery openings and more are all simultaneously taking place. The  next morning I woke up bright and early for their famous Farmers Market.

I also went to the new Blu Fresh Fish Marketplace where I was able to watch as they unloaded boxes of fresh fish. Not only do they sell whole raw fish, but they also have a full service restaurant where I was able to sample their delicious shrimp.

Following that I headed to Oven & Tap which is named for its custom built wood fired oven & tap wall. They offer simple & delicious dishes inspired by southern fare, delta flavors, & hints of Italian flair. The kitchen crafts each menu item from scratch using house recipes & quality ingredients (sourced locally whenever possible). The tap wall houses delicious, hand-selected beer & wine, small-batch cocktails, & Onyx coffee.

American Estates // Editorial // Fayetteville, Arkansas

Arkansas Life magazine asked me to follow along and take photos of the American Estates crew as they did a little rebuild in Fayetteville's Onyx Coffee Lab. They started the rebuild after the coffee shop closed for the night and finished it in time for the opening in the morning. Those guys work fast and efficient.

Bird Dogs // Editorial // Elkins, AR

Arkansas Life magazine hired me to photograph the cover of their January issue. The assignment was to photograph a variety of bird hunting dogs and their owners. The day before the shoot a HUGE ice storm came through Arkansas. Unfortunately it wouldn't have been safe for everyone to meet up on our original shoot date. We pushed the shoot back a couple weeks which meant that we had to push back the feature in the magazine a year. I am so excited to FINALLY be able to show y'all some of my favorite images from this shoot! I had such a blast. I hadn't grown up hunting or been altogether familiar with the culture beforehand, so the experience of meeting several Arkansas hunters was an eye-opening one. After an early-morning shoot, we were invited by one of the hunters to go out and tag along with his buddies as they hunted quail. My favorite assignments are ones where we are thrown into unfamiliar circumstances and subjects, and see how we can come away with something new and fresh. This was certainly no exception.
